What's even better is that the space highways also solve another problem on the side, one that had, until now, stood in the way of a possible online version of the X Universe: time manipulation is not possible in the collaborative game. The absence of the Sinza time acceleration makes the transport system in X Rebirth more believable than in previous X - installments. You pass through a jump gate and follow a multi-colored tunnel to the destination. The leap into neighboring sectors also works in a similar way. If you hang in the slipstream of other faster ships, you'll make even better progress. In the long corridors, the spaceship gains thrust. X Rebirth dispenses with these kinds of clever tricks by allowing you to merge onto space highways at any time. Previous X - installments had time manipulators to overcome long distances. The initial game hours are devoted solely to finding your way around and to the game mechanics.Ĭrossing space without help is a time-consuming process in X Rebirth. A tutorial makes the junior space pilot familiar with the first maneuvers and slowly introduces him or her to the story of X Rebirth. So large, in fact, that you initially feel tiny and a bit lost. It's clear right from the first few minutes of X Rebirth that everything is a little larger than you're used to from most other current games. The X series is bucking this trend and instead of action fast food opts for a complex single-player adventure in outer space. are growing in popularity, most space shooters have disappeared into oblivion. While shooters like Battlefield, Call of Duty and co. There are key parts of the hull that need to be repaired but if you wish to leave certain items such as shields / weapons / jump drive / radar / engines in a wrecked state then leave their respective render sections and state="wreck" intact.Īlso remove the line from sections you wish to repair.Īn example of repairing the player dock.Megalomania: the universe and space stations in XXL Ironically, for booster repair, the render element can be removed. These need to be left in and edited if you want to repair them. You then need to remove the render sections and state="wreck" for the parts you want to repair out of the area of the save the ship occupies but NOT the render sections that relate to the engines. If they are destroyed then delete the unavailable lines. If the drones show as unavailable then they are either destroyed or deployed outside the ship. This line has a range associated with it in later updates but the game will add this automatically. I believe this line puts the ship on the map. Insert the following after the above line: If you wish to add some drones or ammunition, this can be added by inserting it between or (if shields and turrets are not display) and a line such as this: This example is for Auspicious Excavation: tzoneCluster_B_Sector07_Zone05_macro It's generally easier if you know the code for the zone the ship is located first as this can narrow down the search. You will need to do a search for units_size_xl_cargo_hauler_2_macro in the save. For this example, I will use the Titurel. It hasn't been updated for a while so some of the newer ships are not shown. I find Roguey's site useful for most ship and zone details. The next thing to do is to find the wrecked ship in the file. That way, if you make a mistake, you can reload the original file. I would suggest making a back-up of the original save file and then use a copy of it for editing. Myself, I use Crimson Editor (v3.70) as I've used it for many years for editing forum files, etc. The first thing to do is open the save-game file in a text editor such as Notepad++. It's best to fully repair small ships that don't have an engineer such as fighters though. For me it can also feel less of a cheat if you leave some parts still wrecked. As editing an XL ship such as a Fulmekron to a fully restored state can be very time consuming and brain numbing, I would suggest leaving a number of weapons and shields in a wrecked state so the engineer can take over. I've edited quite a few back to a state of partially wrecked to fully repaired and have restored ships ranging from fighters right up to XL size. Here is a guide for those of you who want to edit a wrecked ship in the save-game back to a working state.
